Replace SAE J431 gear with 65-45-12 ductile
Any reasoning for not replacing the material of our current gear (SAE J431 G3000) with a ductile Iron (65-45-12)? I am replacing a gear that is a known failure mode in a switchmachine on the railroad. I would like to get away from a cast blank of the J431 Iron and go with readily available gear...- Raildev
