Thanks Scotty, I agree the oil sample should reflect the transformer's condition regardless of whether the sample was taken at full-load or no-load condition.
All, we've been reviewing our safety procedures and standard practices for taking oil samples on our pad mounted 4.16 kV/0.48 kV transformers. Is there any reason why the sample should be take under full-load conditions?
powersoff, we have similar problems at our facility. Check your VFD’s operational manual for the recommended carrier frequency, and verify this setting on your drive. I found several good references on IEEE Xplore, but really haven’t determined the best design approach for today’s IGBT VFD(s)...
I've been given a project where the surrounding area is rated IIG2. The new equipment I am installing is IIG2, but the existing equipment is not rated. Even worse, the non-rated equipment must be moved to make room for the new equipment, but will stay in the same IIG2 location.
