    fast switching BJT or MOSFET

this solid state relay should be using SCRs

    fast switching BJT or MOSFET

hi friends i have managed to get solid state relays which provide potential free contact at the output rated for 220 V AC, 5 A but circuit details are not available. i am curious as normally we ar concerned with sourcing and sinking logic in transistor switches whereas in above case all...

    power factor, inductive or capacitive??

let me correct myself, at unity p.f your inductive and capacitive currents are equal and resulting current flowing is in phase with voltage.

    power factor, inductive or capacitive??

hello *chert i feel capacitive (leading) p.f will increase the output voltage at no load conditions which can be undesirable. u can recall Ferraty Effect in long transmission lines!!! because of their high capacitive values, output voltage shoots up at no loads which is undesirable...

    compresor motor starting

thanks for your suggestions normally , the compressor is started on no load only but i am ruling out direct on line starting as it will cause drop in the line causing problems to the other loads. i will take into account the suggestions given. thanks again..

    compresor motor starting

hi everybody thanks for your suggestions, i will consider all the above points before replacing the starter. this motor doesnt have all the 6 winding ends coming , so star/delta starting is ruled out. this is also not a wound rotor type motor.

    identify a zener diode

what about recording the voltage profile on digital oscilloscope before and after iginition and analysing the stored profiles!!!

quite informative thread... keep it up friends

    fast switching BJT or MOSFET

thanks friends i would like to discuss it bit more.. off to on time for typical transistor relays is 5-15 microseconds ie transistor when used as a switch it takes approximately this much time. now as electricuwe has pointed out this time also finds lots of variation depending...

    SOFT PLC Vs Conventional PLCs

hello carl thanks for your inputs.the origin of plcs was to replace the conventional relay based logic ckts.moreover right from the begginning they have been made to withstand harsh envirnomental conditions and disturbances like EMI.as u have rightly mentioned it is the plc which...

    compresor motor starting

thanks busbar its a squrriel cage induction motor. by resistance ,i meant putting them in line for some time and then taking out after motor picks up speed. similarly magnetic soft starters are also available which give smooth starting as compared to star delta starter. going for...

    4-20 mA Vs 0-10 V ?

Why it is better to use 4-20mA Than 0-10V signal. And friends on what basis 4 and 20 nos have been decided.

    fast switching BJT or MOSFET

WHICH DEVICE IS FASTER OUT OF BJT , MOSFET ,IGBTs and SCRs for fast switching. is it possible to have solid state relays which can switch 220 V ac.

    SOFT PLC Vs Conventional PLCs

i want to know that which type of control solution is better for safety interlocking .industrial PLCs with SCADA and logic programming facilities ie soft plcs or slot PLCS OR CONVENTION PLCs

    compresor motor starting

i have 25 hp ,440 V motor connected to compressor through v belts. which type of starting will be better --- resistance or magnetic

dc motor starting with high load

the high starting current results in temprarory voltage drop across armature which reaches its almost normal value once the motor picks up speed.the motor should pick up rated speed in about 7-8 seconds. if you could increase the time delay for undervoltage protection it would serve the purpose...
