    B31.3 Radiography requirements

Thanks for your comment, but my confusion is really in the fact that girth and miter groove welds are both specified in paragraph 344.5.2 as 100%RT in (a) and random in (b).

    B31.3 Radiography requirements

Article 344.5.2 specifies 100% radiography for girth and miter groove welds in paragraph (a) and random radiography for the same welds in paragraph (b). How do I discriminate between the two rules? We have a pipe to pipe butt weld 55mm thick. (We do not have a fabricated branch connection)

When charpy testing carbon steel weld inlaid with 5mm Inconel must the test specimen include the inlay or not according to BPVC section V? Test temperature is -46°C.

Tell tale holes --- Piping support

Is it stated in code (ASME B31.3) that you will need "tell tale holes" when you peripheral weld a piping support (rolled plate) to a pipe? Anybody with more info on this subject? Regards, Torgeir

Number of welds to make pipe from plate.

SJones, I have bought and read throug ASTM A672. The standard does not say anything about number of seams/plates to form a pipe. Is it then resonable to say it is allowed, since it according to the standard is not disallowed to form a pipe from two plate segments? Best regards, Torgeir

Stanweld, Thank you for your reply. The ASTM A672 handles the electric fusion welded pipes. Are there a standard for saw (sub arc welding)released from ASTM? Regards, Torgeir

Number of welds to make pipe from plate.

Hello metengr. I was thinking about how many longitudinal seams to weld the pipe together from ASTM A516 plate is allowed according to code. The Outer diameter is 52" and the thickness is 50 mm. Best regards, Torgeir www.propure.com

Number of welds to make pipe from plate.

Our sub-supplier are making a 52" pipe for us of ASTM A516 material. Do anybody know if there are any restrictions on the number of longitudinal welds to make such a pipe? Do you know if this is written in ASME B31.3? Any help is appreciated
