Pitting corrosion in oil and gas

Thanks all for your replies. Could I apply the same considerations to the chlorides stress corrosion cracking? I guess yes! Thanks and regards

Pitting corrosion in oil and gas

Good morning to all (Italian time). I would like to talk about pitting corrosion in oil and gas applications. Taking in consideration 316SS and a wet stream with an important amount of salinity (dissolved chlorides), from my academic studies I know that without oxigen, and the relevant cathodic...

Single or double piston effect ball valve against type of fluid

What kind of seat design is the best for a fluid like oil? Single or double piston effect? Thanks in advance

17-4 PH and NACE MR 0175

Thanks for your reply. My doubt regards only which table i must take in consideration concerning the impeller and shaft material of the pump. Maybe i could take in consideration table A.28 under miscellaneous equipment or A.27. Regards M.

17-4 PH and NACE MR 0175

I'm selecting a material for a pump (impeller and shaft) in Sour Service as per NACE MR 0175. My first choice is 17-4 PH above all becouse in the first period the service is not sour and for the future 200 ppm is indicated (very low). My doubt is, with reference of section A.8 (Precipitation...

    Pipe manufacturing

Hi all. I don't if this is the right forum, but i'll try. Could you please suggest me some books, articles of handbooks, or something like this concerning pipe manufacturing: LSAW (JCOE,UOE, 3roll bending),HSAW, ERW, etc... that involve all the metallurgic, processes of production aspects etc...

    Acceptance of general corrosion

Same pictures of the situation. Now we are brushing and pickling. But i think it's not crevice corrosion. It seems to be general corrosion due to atmospheric attack. http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=68b36349-c2cd-4ed6-a124-0620ec97cdce&file=foto_30.09.09.pdf

    Acceptance of general corrosion

I have problems with the presence of some points of general corrosion in the Air-Intake conduit of a gas turbine. The material is 304. Is there an international standard or norm or something like this that regulate the presence of this points of general corrosion? i mean something like a...

    A105/LF2 ENP for non-corrosive service

My Client gave me a datasheet of a ball valve, in which an electroless nickel plating surface treatment (min. thk. 50 microns)is required for a standard (non corrosive) service. I really don't understand the advantages of this choice versus the cost of this treatment (i have 16" valves!!). Thanks

    Carbon Dioxide corrosion

When i took in consideration the corrosion due to the presence of co2 in a wet stream, i was not worry because the partial pressure of co2 was inside the interval[7psi,14psi],in which "weak corrosion could occur" .And also i have 10 psi only in a KO drum and the stream is wet only when the...

    Carbon Dioxide corrosion

I used dewaard-milliams corrosion model in order to understand if the corrosion rate can cause problems with my process conditions. In every case my paint supplier gave me a lining system for the co2, in wet stream corrosion attack.

    Carbon Dioxide corrosion

My paint supplier gave me some coating systems. In every case, using dewaard-milliams model, i calculated the approximate corrosion rate and i don't think i'll have many problems. Also because i think that this model is very conservative.

    Carbon Dioxide corrosion

I'm looking for a coating system for an internal epoxy lining of some carbon steel vessels. The stream is wet natural gas with the presenze of carbon dioxide with a partial pressure under 11 psia. Thanks

Manhole in ASME VIII Div.1 Pressure Vessels

Maybe the body flange is the better solution. I'll go in that way. Thanks for your answers!

Manhole in ASME VIII Div.1 Pressure Vessels

Hi all. I have to design some separators with ASME VIII Div. 1. One of these is 20" ID. My Owner wants the possibility to have access to the internals (vane packs) for maintenance. So i need a manhole at least of 18-20 inches and of course it's impossible for a vessel with 20" ID. The question...
