Import Solidworks part to ANSYS using IGS

hi, generally I use .sat for volumes, .IGES for surfaces. As miha said, I suggest to semplify your IGES model (draw surfaces only) and create volumes in Ansys using booloeans (extrude, subratct, add glue...) I had similar problems with my IGES model, luckily my volumes were very simple, i...

Error: Load set not found on result file.rst

Sorry Alex, my problem is Ansys creates file .rst , but nothing seems to be written in that happens with my explicit analysis last model only

Error: Load set not found on result file.rst

Please, anyone knows what it means? I'm simulating an explicit analysis test, Ansys solves it , but I can use post26 only, trying post1 ansys issues this error Load set not found on result file.rst tnx 4 answers

    Cheap Ansys

Try looking for old versions (4.0, 5.0) they may be free, now, I think

    generalized spot welds

damn, I made a test with generalized spot welds like I described above, all ok...then I applied to my model and that's the result: *** Warning nodal pairs are defined for GENERAL and COMBINED welds only. NPR is reset to 0. Keyword: *CONSTRAINED_GENERALIZED_WELD_SPOT anyone knows...

    generalized spot welds

yes, The lines I selected are parts of the perimetres since I have a lot of node to weld I supposed genrlzd spot weld option was quick and simple, but I was not able to understand the procedure fully

    out-of-range velocities

Can it be a coarse mesh problem?

    generalized spot welds

yes, I kept the node attached to the 2 overlapped lines belonging to the 2 surfaces to "weld": SELECT--->LINES--->APPLY---->NODES ATTACHED TO---->LINES---->CREATE COMPONENT---->MADE OF NODES then I created generalized spot weld I made a test this morning, it seems to go Is it the correct way?

    generalized spot welds

tnx for your answer Ansys help says: For a spotweld, N1 and N2 are the nodes which are connected by the spotweld. For a generalized weld, input a nodal component name in N1 and leave N2 blank. The nodal component should contain all nodes that are to be included in the generalized weld. For a...

    generalized spot welds

Hallo to all forgive me for the continuous questions but I'm in trouble... I've to create 2 attached by spot welds composite plates ansys offers me two options: -massless sw, I don't like to it cause I have a lot of node to attach -generalized sw about the last option, can I use as nodal...

    out-of-range velocities

Dear all, I'm simulating an impact test using ansys/ls-dyna, when I change an imput data "out-of-range velocities" error appears: for example, since I tried to insert the following soil and gravity datas N,300000 ,8000,0,50,,,, N, 300001,8000,0,7000,,,, N,300002 ,-17000,0,7000...

    ansys/ls-dyna and composite

well, now i'm setting beta angles for each layer, tnx Stringmaker, by the way , an help for mat prop settings? :-D

    ansys/ls-dyna and composite

I can, but layer real costant options (beta angle, mat id)do not appear anyway

    ansys/ls-dyna and composite

Hallo to everyone, first of all, forgive my English!!! I have to simulate an impact test involving composite FRP materials, in Ansys Explicit ED. version, but I'm afraid shell 163 composite option can't be used (non composite option =0 by default) What kind of element type should I use for...
