    Can CFD do this???

I don't mind if the analysis cuts the rope so everything is under water. I just need the sin input.

    Can CFD do this???

Here is a simplified scenerio: Submerge a cup in a large tub of water. Let the air out and flip it upside down. Attach a string to the closed bottom (now top). Apply a sinusoidal movement to the string from surface to simulate wave under a boat. I am interested in the general dynamics: cup...

Fluid Behavior orifice or piston-like design

Hello all. I am working on a very large hydraulic shock absorber (spring is pressurized nitrogen). The dampening is done by an orifice. My concern is that the orifice is restricting flow and negating the spring's behavior. Is there any difference in the orifice design as compared to a piston...

Flow rate in and out does not match

In the valve flow report the difference was about 10% In my model its about 110% The traces look fine so I am a little stumped. I will provide updates once I return from my travels and have time to go over everything again.

Flow rate in and out does not match

Thanks for the input. I am positive that in both cases there is no third port. I've looked at every possible chart or graph and they look fairly correct. I also believe the mesh to be correct. I have even refined it with minimal change to the results. I'll see if I can find the residual error...

Flow rate in and out does not match

I recently reviewed a ANSYS CFD report of a custom valve and noticed that the flow rate in and flow rate out did not match. More came in then out. I am currently playing with the Comsol packages and did a quick model of a pipe with a reduced port in the middle. Again the report showed a...
