    Boron Nitride engine oil additive

It seems, at the time being, the only two German companies producing API licensed motor oils are: ADDINOL LUBE OIL GMBH RAVENSBERGER SCHMIERSTOFFVERTRIEB GMBH http://eolcs.api.org/FindCompaniesByCountry.asp?Country=GERMANY Addinol...

    Boron Nitride engine oil additive

I also know of a 2.2 common rail turbo diesel with 130 thousand miles on board that slightly exceeds the manufacturer specifications though peak torque is a little higher than should be. Same manufacturer as mine. Bought SH, only ever treated with Mobil 1 0w40 diesel every 20 thousand odd miles...

    Boron Nitride engine oil additive

I don't have a particulate filter on the car, it's only euro2 emissions' standard compliant. Also, I don't care that much about fuel economy. I just want the best engine protection, so something like API CH or upwards is probably not best for me. drwebb, I've never used anything other than moly...

    Boron Nitride engine oil additive

    I run LM Diesel Synthoil 5w40 full synthetic: http://www.liqui-moly.de/liquimoly/produktdb.nsf/id/e_1341.html ACEA B4-98/B3-98 Issue 2 ; API CF ; BMW Longlife-98 ; MB-Freigabe 229.1 ; MB-Freigabe 229.3 ; VW 502.00 / 505.00 that I top off with LM MoS2 Leichtlauf 10w40 semisynthetic...

    Boron Nitride engine oil additive

The reason I'm looking into this is operational safety. I drive a 2 litre, very slightly undersquare (85 x 88 mm, same as the 2 litre petrol) turbodiesel that routinely sees 4500 rpm and full throttle operation. I want my engine to last(idle it 10~20 minutes before setting off, 1~5 minutes...

    Boron Nitride engine oil additive

I'm thinking of using a BN additive for engine oil. I've already used a MoS2 additive with synthetic oil and am using currently using 5w40 diesel synthetic mixed with 10w40 semisynth already containing MoS2 and probably other friction and/or antiwear additive. Same manufacturer, they say it's ok...

Fudging turbo-diesel fuelling for more power.

Fudging turbo-diesel fuelling for more power.

Alu block (and head) diesels are nothing new: "The 1.6-litre HDi/Duratorq TDCi’s all-aluminium construction has maintained its weight at a very low 120 kilos. It is equipped exclusively with a 16-valve cylinder head derived directly from the head used on the 1.4-litre HDi/Duratorq TDCi, whose...

Fudging turbo-diesel fuelling for more power.

They should be avoided because they often fool the ECU into raising the rail pressure over the design limits of the injection system. To pressures where if the ECU knew what was going down it would shut the engine off immediately. The worst that can happen is injectors rail and pump being...

    Brain fart, coolant system

Yes, but what about using oil in a cooling system sized and designed for whater? The antifreeze in the water lowers the overall heat capacity of the coolant. Maybe to where straight engine oil would be. This just might work. If only I had a jalopy to try this on.

    Brain fart, coolant system

Interesting. Now that you mention it, what effects would soap in crankcase oil have?

    Brain fart, coolant system

So, should I risk it and try using oil for coolant with a 2.0 turbodiesel?

    Brain fart, coolant system

Also, I'm thinking the lower heat capacity of the oil would make for more of a temperature differential when it hits the radiator, improving cooling of the oil there. Would help any bit? Also, engine oil could go higher in temp with no risk of it boiling, even in an unpressurized system. Anyone...

    Brain fart, coolant system

What would be the viscosity and base stock with the nearest heat capacity and heat transfer to water? Would the oil thinning out as temperature increases improve cooling through better flow?

    Brain fart, coolant system

I've just had a brain fart. How about using engine oil for coolant in the engine's coolant system, separately from the oil in the sump. I'm thinking of corrosion prevention and wear protection of the coolant pump. Also, a good, thin synthetic will pour at temperatures where you'd need a lot of...

    BOV Question

A wastegate is enough for diesel engines. No BOV present or required. Only ppl. who fit BOVs to diesel turbos are ricers. Seems really silly to me. http://www.peugeotclubromania.ro/forum/showpost.php?p=167682&postcount=16 Older engine turbo. Note the simple pneumatic only control of the...

    Diesel high pressure injection pump

    Diesel high pressure injection pump

Don't know what the pump does but the pressure in the rail is not constant. It varies between idle and full load and rpm from 350 to 1350 or from 250 bar to 1,600 bar: http://www.peugeot.com.au/PEUGEOT/AU/clientdocs/asp/minisites/hdi/technical.pdf
