n00b question, need some help :(

I have done that but for some reason all the other layers seem to be under it rather than having the picture on the bottom. The JPEG is already on its own layer I just don't know how to get it under all the other layers so I can trace over the top of it.

n00b question, need some help :(

Thanks RHTPE. I have opened model space in the viewport and when I click freeze it the layer dispears is that suppose to happen? I thought it was suppose to keep the layer on in that viewport model view so when the Layer is off it still shows on that layout. Do I just freeze the layer in the...

n00b question, need some help :(

Ok the dashed lines are now scaled in model space but where are the LTScale and PSLTscale for the layout so I can make it look right in the layout? The last thing I have to do is to trace a hand drawn curved embankment from the physical plans. I have already scanned and inserted the JPEG into...

n00b question, need some help :(

Well I have gotten everything to work how I want besides the dashed lines. I have selected the linetype in the properies tab and nothing then have went into Format>Linetype and changed the scale but there doesn't seem to be any change no matter what I set it to. I wish the lines to be dashed in...

n00b question, need some help :(

For some reason I am unable to get a dashed line to work. Any suggestions as to why? It just keeps making solid lines when selected. I am after a rather large scale dashed line compared to the standard lines weight, any suggestions as to how I would do this, they have put this in to show...

n00b question, need some help :(

Publish just seems to fail so I will have another go once I'm done with the drawings and if it doesn't work I will just print to A1 PDF. I have already started the updates on seperate layers and have turned them on and off on the needed layouts which has worked perfectly. Calling me a dummy...

n00b question, need some help :(

Thanks for the reply. I have to do two seperate updates one showing the as constructed gas lines and another showing the as constructed fire reel locations and piping but the plans have a new revision so I have to use the same drawing/layout for both updates. Would I simply copy and paste the...

n00b question, need some help :(

Oops. Ok the first picture I sent is the Model space and when I clicked on quick view layouts it has brought up all the drawings all layed out as the original plans (this file is from the engineer). It has the exact layout set up as the second picture I uploaded. Now to change the pages should...

n00b question, need some help :(

Ah the title block is what I am after I believe. I have attached a picture of what I am trying to achieve.http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=7aab56e1-f2ed-4d4a-b81f-e0cae11534f3&file=style.jpg

n00b question, need some help :(

Hey IFRs, I guess that would be along the lines of it. I have only ever done the actual drawings not putting it in the plan space for to scale printing. I have attached a picture of what I have. I wish to seperate each drawing onto a page for A1 printing at 1:100 scale with the grid border and...

n00b question, need some help :(

Hey guys, Well I have updated some construction drawings adding in a few gas lines and water lines as well as a storm water drain but now that it is done I have no idea how to export it into single pages as all the drawings are in the one file. The scale is set to 1:100 at A1. This is with...

    Simple "Sweep Boss" question..

To me personally it doesn't make any sense to run the pipe back through the valve, I would just create a pipe on either side to stay true to how it would really be constructed, if you run it back through the valve it would override any internal parts of the valve.

Is SolidWorks 2009 Slower to Save?

I've heard the 64 bit version runs noticably better then the 32 bit. I only have 2006 but my step brother just got 2009 so I will check it out when I get a chance.

How to debug a DWG for Solidworks?

I thought I'd mention I have SW 2006. Yes I have tried using the repair sketch function it says that endpoints are wrongly shared. It seems that DWG editor is the way to go, I haven't really used it much before so I guess I will have a go at figuring it out. Russels instructions are a tad...

How to debug a DWG for Solidworks?

CorBlimeyLimey I imported the DWG file into a new solidworks 3D part to use as the basis for the new part and as far as I am aware it is imported just as a sketch. Thanks for the detailed response Russell, its a bit late here at the moment so I will give it a go in the morning and see if that...

How to debug a DWG for Solidworks?

I'm not 100% sure I just remember him saying he was using auto cad a while ago. All I know besides that is the drawing is saved as a DWG format. It was also created as 2D originally I know that. I've got a few other DWG's for standard fittings etc off the net and they have all been fine it just...

How to debug a DWG for Solidworks?

Hey guys, Basically I was e-mailed a 2d autocad DWG file and it apparently has 'more than one open contour' then it offers to attempt to merge them but then comes up with an error saying 'an endpoint it wrongly shared by multiple entities'. Now short of checking every single point to to make...

    Pipe routing tutorial?

Yeah I haven't been able to find ANYTHING on the subject. Solidprofessor has a tutorial on it but at $299.99 I think i'll give it a miss for now. This is just a personal interest so can't really justify the cost unless I was using it. Is there anyone out there that could write up a quick...

    Pipe routing tutorial?

Hey guys, Well i'm after a free pipe routing tutorial if anyone knows of any. Specifically i'm trying to draw up a decent turbo manifold for an inline 4 engine as a little project to further my skills but so far I have no idea how to work with pipes and routing in solidworks. I can make your...
