I'm trying to calculate Mean Allowable Wall Thickness (MAWT) of a Flare knock out drum (Design code of construction is ASME VIII Division 1 – W82). Peculiarly there are following three sets of design pressure and temperature values stamped on the Vessel's name plate as well as mentioned on its...

Thanks jte..
“I understand the portion of B16.9 you mention but am still unclear. If I buy a 10” std wall tee the minimum thickness would be 9.27 mm at the weld ends but how would I know that the Tee was within code if there is no requirement for a thickness at the knuckle region?
The...
ASME B16.9 fittings conform to the same wall thickness schedules as for B31.3 pipe and this code states that the "allowable pressure ratings.....may be calculated as for straight seamless pipe". So for example an 10" standard wall equal Tee would have a nominal wall thickness 9.27 mm which is...

Hello,
I've been trying to find a standard reference (ASME,AWS) that requires a UT inspection 24 hrs after welding carried out on process piplelines. I just cannot remember which standard it was mentioned in? I would appreciate your help in this regard.

I came across an old inspection report where inspection on one of the SS pipeline welds were carried out by using UT set calibrated off CS block. It appears that inspector did not think that this would make much of a difference...Not a UT expert, I'm wondering if he was true in thinking that??
