    Booster pumps

For crude oil pumps, usually a booster pump system is also installed. Is there any particular reason for doing so?

    TEFC vs TEAAC

Hi, I'm preparing data sheets for some big pumps, medium voltage (4160V), and motors between 200 and 1000 HP. I have my doubts about requesting all motors with a TEFC enclosure, or maybe a TEAAC enclosure could be an option for the big ones. Can somebody give me some recommendations when to...

cup tank (tank in tank) design code

UL-142 / UL-58 Both codes deal with primary and secondary containment tanks, UL-58 is for underground tanks, and UL-142 is for aboveground tanks.

    OS&Y Valves NFPA requirement

Hi, According to NFPA 20, section 2-9.5: "A listed outside screw and yoke (OS&Y) gate valve shall be installed in the suction pipe. No valve other than a listed OS&Y valve shall be installed in the suction pipe within 50 ft (16 m) of the pump suction flange." I was wondering why there is not a...

    Minimum flow issue

BigInch, I was misunderstood, it's a bid, but basic engineering has been completed, and our scope its to supply part of the equipment, and part of detailed engineering. So I'm not considering the posibility to change the pump arrangement.

    Minimum flow issue

Well, this pump is part of a bid, so in this stage is not posible to change the configuration to use two or three pumps, although it's a good question why the designers of the system choose to use only one big pump. As I said in my second post, I'm not going to aprove the proposal, but instead...

    Minimum flow issue

raronen I'm not completely sure if I can apply your formula, it could serve as a reference, but like bigInch says, it depends of the robustness of the pump. I was looking for a similar pump in the Golds pump selection web page (Goulds is the manufacturer of the pump of the proposal) and I found...

    Minimum flow issue

Hi, I have to give my approval for a proposal for a centrifugal pump, it should work at a rated flow of 38750 gpm @ 157 ft TDH, BUT it must be able to work with a flow of 15000 gpm (minimum). I have received a proposal for a pump that meets these conditions except that its minimum continuous...

    Waves in water storage tank

Hey, thanks!! With respect to the tank: It has a 87'-10" diameter, the inlet is horizontal at 4' from ground and the flow is 200000 BWPD. Once I follow your suggestions I think a 24" perforated pipe inside the tank with 100 holes 2" per pipe side (200 total) should work.

    Waves in water storage tank

Hi, I need to find a solution to the following problem: A 45000 bbls water storage tank has a 24" water inlet, the water that enters the tank is causing a lot of waves. These waves are causing damage to an oil skimmer float located in the surface of the water. Our client wants to find a method...
