I think this is true...
Should be that most of the time is spent solving for the stiffness matrix. If you have only one boundary condition and 12 different forces for you 12 subcases, this should barely take longer than N since there is only 1 stiffness matrix to solve for. But, if you have 12...
My experience is with llnl-dyna, so my comments may be incorrect... Based on the description of your problem I'll assume that you're assigning an initial velocity, not a prescribed velocity. In llnl initial velocities are assigned to nodes so it's necessary to assign them to every node in the...
Rainier,
How many elements are in the model? Sometimes mechanica creates really coarse meshes and it's necessary to adjust the autogem settings and/or add some fixed points to force it to create more elements. Is this it, or should I give it some more thought?
I agree with caviac, sounds like the the solid has deformed too much. This could be caused by the element being a bad shape to begin with. It could also be caused by a time step that is too big. I'm guessing that dt=1e-6 not 1e+6 as written above. I think that ls-dyna calculates the time...
Assuming you've used Mechanica's shell idealization, and that your column is a tall plate, the bottom edge of the plate should be constrained in all translation dof and 2 rotation dof. Rotation about the edge should be free. The top edge should be constrained in 2 dof (translation allowed in...
