Actually, I just run an FE model with a very flexible shell to represent the rectangular "cut out" (ie perforated grid) in the dome.
It appears that the dome protects the grid periphery from significant bending. Seems then OK.

I have to substantiate a thin dome which contains a perforated grid in the middle of the dome. The grid has a rectangular contour and covers around 50% of the dome area.
The dome and the grid are loaded with a static pressure.
