    BC in cylindrical coordinates

Thanks to both of you (Corus and PamCrash) for your respondings. I wanted to give some additional detail. Responding to Corus: my 1/4 model is such that the right section is 45deg in positive-x and the left section is 45deg in negative-x. Therefore, the sides of the model are not paralel to...

    BC in cylindrical coordinates

Hello: I have issues with boundary conditions for a quarter-cylindrical shape model. Can we apply a BC constrain in cylicrical coordinate? e.g., rotational constrain. Thank you for your insight.

Effects of weight in static analysis

Hello: I would like to include WEIGHT in my structural model. I did it by using DENSITY in MATERIAL PROPERTY. By comparing the results obtained with/without DENSITY, I did not see any difference. Can we use DENSITY in static analysis to include the weight load in static analysis? Could you...

Shell vs Brick Element in Buckling?

Hello: I have a problem which deals with "buckling" of a rectangular cross-sectional boom. The boom has about 300 in length, 0.25 in thick, and 22 in side. My question is: which type of element (shell vs. solid brick element) should be the most appropriate for this buckling problem? Thank...

Redefine orientation of the coordinate system

Hello: Please advice. I would like to redefine the orientation of the global coordinate system (XYZ) of the part assembly. Thank you for your help. Elkhorn.

    3D crack growth in abaqus

Hi: From my own experience, there is no easy way to simulate a crack growth using ABAQUS. In particular, if your model is a quite complicated one. Maybe it is possible to do it with a simplified geometry. My model was quite complicated. Good luck. Elkhorn.

    Brick element 8-node using Workbench

Hi All: I started to use ANSYS WorkBench (11.0). The simplified model was automatically generated with brick element (20 nodes). The question is: "How can I reset or modify commands in order to obtain brick elements with 8 nodes only (not 20)?". Thank you in advance. Elkhorn.
