What would be the purpose for welding stainless and nickel alloys with an argon helium mixture for shielding gas. And would it be ok to weld 300 series stainless steels with this mixture?
I realy appreciate your help guys! Rich I will try your ideas they are great! I will check the gas flow on the tig torch it should not be anymore than about thirty or so but I will check it out. G.Austin I can see it in the puddle as I am welding so I am still stumped. Everything is...
Thank you for your reply. We have been doing everything you have mentioned above except using the low residual filler material. I think that the low residual filler material helps with the hot cracking situations. I have also already read the Blue Sheet on this material and I could not find...
I am welding 3/4" up tp 2" schedule 10 Carpenter 20 cb3 with ER320. Does anyone have idea what the black specs of trash that form in the weld puddle and are left on top of the solidified weld are and how they form?
If you dont mind me asking how do the austenitic stainless steels work harden. I know that they cannot be hardened by heat treating due to low carbon content, they can only harnded by cold work, is work hardend By sawing and drilling similar.
I don't know how much help this will be but I have run into the same problem with the plasma cutter. The bevel or un-parallel cut on one side(the left side usually) is due to the clockwise swirl of the air or water in water plasma cutting that blows the molten metal out of the way to create the...
I have been welding stainless steel for about eight years schedule ten, forty, and eighty. When welding anything from four inches and up I have never had a problem with overheating to the point that I have needed forced interpass cooling in order to place the next pass. The smaller diameters...
