Residual stresses as result of cold-deforming

Hello, I'm doing a static analysis of a cold-deformed L-shape (90 degree) wire. As a first step I did the analysis with the final shape of the deformed wire by simply meshing it and appling the force. Because of the manufacturing process (cold-deforming, bending) there are some residual...

    Defining material properties for polyurethan

The stress-strain diagram goes something like this (see attachment). Should I even consider the flexural strenght in Abaqus analysis? http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=0343cfc4-ef4d-472f-9256-947acef75c20&file=epsilon_sigma_katalog.jpg

    Defining material properties for polyurethan

I have a task to perform a static FEM analysis for a machine part made of Polyurethan. As I normally do static analysis for metal parts, where I define only two material parameters (Young’s Modulus and Poisson’s Ratio) I’m a little bit confused right now. Why? Because in the literature there are...

Normal force from contact pressure (CPRESS in Abaqus)

Thank you xerf! I found out that if I check in the History Recquest Output the CFN box (total forces and moments due contact pressure) I get exactly what I want. It's a very convenient and elegant menthod for getting this result.

Normal force from contact pressure (CPRESS in Abaqus)

Yes, I know know that i must integrate the pressure over the area, but I unfortunately don't know how to do this in Abaqus...

Normal force from contact pressure (CPRESS in Abaqus)

First of all, hello to everybody. This is my first post here but I already use this very forum as a source of information :) My problem is this the next: I'm doing some basic contact analysis in AbaqusCAE 6.7. I have two 3D solids which are in contact (2 planar surfaces). As a result I get a...
