Thanks Pete,
The idea of a copper box was just to get the idea of permeability straight in my head, the application wont actually use a box but will utilise solid metal seperating a magnet and an electromagnet.
To simplify the idea to the most basic degree: I want to have permanent magnet...
The blue line is the load line where I have assumed the permeance coefficient is 1.0.
The two blue dashed lines are just projections to the axis for the point on the red normal curve of B=5.75, H=5.75 @20°C.
Thanks for your help all. I think I'm slowly getting the idea of it!
Following on from another thread I started, I also am not convinced my understanding of magnetic permeability is correct. I've attached a crude diagram of two situations:
The top view shows a magnet in a box of low permeability. My understanding is that the magnetic flux is free to pass...
Thanks for your help guys.
What really is still confusing me is that from the graph, this magnet will have (in the centre of the magnet) a flux density of 5.75kG, but a field strength of -5.75kOe.
It's this negative number that confuses me. Is this a field strength of 5.75kOe with the -ive...
Hi there.
I am a mechanical engineer and am just starting to get into the world of magnetism which is both fascinating and confusing to me. Essentially I'm trying to understand what is happening in the second quadrant in a BH curve with no external field applied.
I have attached a BH curve...
Hi there,
I have a problem in that I'm trying to create a graph that essentially creates a box. I have equations that gives me 2 results for pressures and 2 results for forces.
What I am trying to show is that Pp (5000psi) and Pi (-5000psi)only exist between FMAX (75000lbs) and FMIN...
Yes that'll be it!!
I've spent so long looking at it on the MathCad screen which is covered in matrices and funtions that contain umpteen terms that I was confusing myself to think it's more complicated than it is.
Looking at the original post it is actually quite obvious I'll take it as a...
Good morning all.
I'm having the following problem:
I'm trying to find given pressures at which a resultant force will equal 0lbs, however, the two pressures that affect the resultant force act in different directions but are related to each other. To simplify my problem, I am trying to...
Hmmm, still can't seem to get that to work. I've uplaoded another file with what I'm doing now.
Taking away the bit I've highlighted in red, it works fine, it just means that I have to put in all the variables for each function. I thought I might be able to someway link them but if not, it...
Hi,
thanks for that. I started doing it this way and it seems to work, however I can't get the output from one function to be one of the variables for another function. Is this possible?
e.g. Trying to find the force created by a pressure acting on a cylinder. I realise you can do this all...
Hi all,
I work in pressure vessel design and therefore do alot of von mises stress equations. However, when using MathCad, I am needing to put the equations in for each new part I do and sometimes my calculations worksheets incorporate multiple parts. This makes the whole document look...
