Motor selection for Positive displacement pump

Hi, I am trying to size a correct motor for my pump. The setup will be, a motor connected to a reduction gear box and the gear box will be connected to a positive displacement pump. The process undertaken is as follows: 1) Look at the different pump ranges ( Flow and Pressures). From the...

I have an application as follows:

Let's say the discharge pressure of fluid 1 is 120 psi and the discharge at fluid 2 is about 30 psi. Will there be an issue of the fluid pumped from P2, since the discharge pressure of P2 is small compared to dicharge pressure at P1? Will there be a proper mix?

I have an application as follows:

I have an application as follows: I have positive displacement pump 1 that is pumping at around 6 BPM ( through a 4" pipe) at pressure P1. There is another smaller positive displacement pump 2 that is pumping at around 0.8 BPM ( through a 1" pipe) at pressure P2. These 2 fluids mix at a point...

    Centrifugal pump health check

Hello, This is with regards to Centrifugal pump operations and maintenance. We have a few Centrifugal pumps in our plant that pumps chemicals, heavy density fluids, viscous fluids etc.. How do we constantly ensure that the pump is in good condition? Is there any kind of predictive...

    drive_shaft_issues

Tmoose, Thanks for your input. Could you please further elaborate on the statment "If the vibration frequency is twice rotating speed, then u-joint angularity >>can<< be part of the problem. If the vibration is at 1X rotating speed then excessively tight u-joints can be part of the...

    drive_shaft_issues

desertfox, you are right, the large angles are one of the problem....and i mentioned that the bolts failed in tensile..which means that there is a high possibility that there is an axial force acting on the housing that caused the bolts to fail.. Vibration analysis at the wall also...

    Queries on reducing shaft vibration

Tmoose, The universal joints are in each ends of the shaft. The amplitute peak to peak vibration is about 1.2mm in the axial direction. the attachment is side view..i have posted a new thread with new finidngs in a new thread.... you had mentioned "Good u-joint phasing reduces the 2X...

    Vibration

Hi, Is there an ASME standard for vibrations? e.g the maximum displacements and velocity for machineries? If so, it would be very helpful, if someone could direct me to that. Thanks.

    drive_shaft_issues

Hi, I am having some drive shaft issues. I have posted this before. I did further testing and came up with some new results and thought i will share this with the community and at the same time I hope to get some direction in this forum. I have a PTO driving a Centrifugal pump. There are...

    Queries on reducing shaft vibration

Could you please explain how the graph should be intepreted and what does shaft angle mean? is it the vertical angle with respect to the wall?

    Queries on reducing shaft vibration

I am having a problem on shaft vibration. I have 3 shafts (york slip) that is running between a PTO and a pump. The three shafts are connected by universal joints. The three shafts goes through 2 sets of flange bearings, which are bolted to a steel wall. On one of the walls, there is excessive...

    Pump shaft and impeller

Hi, I am currently working on a project that involves specing out a bolt that would be used to hold an impeller to the shaft. I was wondering what are the forces that i should consider to spec out a suitable bolt. Thank you.

    Queries on Welding

Hi, I am pretty new to Pro-E. I was wondering how you could add weld model to bond two surfaces for analysis. I do know that if you just constraint two surfaces, Pro-Mechanica treats that as a single body and i think that does not give a very accurate result when you do a stress analyssis...
