We have a synchronous generator of ABB make. There are two values of Xd,Xd' and Xd" ; different vaues for saturated and unsaturated. Could you guys tell me what exactly is saturated and unsaturated for a synchronous generator?
Well wolf39, there is enough clearance of the runner from the TWL say about 2 mtrs from the surface.However, the tail water ends up in a perpendicular channel before it enter into a pond.

There was no sign of stator winding terminals getting shorted. Moreover, the chances of the unit breaker re-closing is not possible as the syncheck relay will not allow that to happen and the events in the SCADA also doesnt show of any such reclosing.
Oh..i forget to mention...it is a horizontal shaft machine having two nozzle arrangement. We dont have a braking mechanism. And it tripped on bearing oil temp faulty signal. The tripping signal was activated while changing the sensors.The concern here is the unusual braking force which brought...
