    Test pump packing

Is there a method to test a pump that uses packing for a seal when on the bench and no motor attahed? This is so the pump is not installed and then find out that it is leaking way to much when operated.

    480v motor

I left some stuff out of my last post I ment to ask about. In some pm's they ask about voltage on lines 1, line, 2 line 3, does anyone think that is the best way or would l-1 to l-2 than l-1 to l-3 and l-2 to l-3? IS there a size of motor in hp where you would start with pm's?
