two pipeline in the same trench

BigInch, Agreed! But I'm sure you've come across Consultants who screwed-up in their design but won't admit to their mistakes to protect their reputation. And the Client, not knowing any better, go along with their Consultant reccommadations.

SUBSEA WATER PIPELINE BUCKLING DURING PIPE LAY WORKS.

BigInch Yup, Rintis method was proposed, but for 27 km long pipeline, there will be quite a number of pipe string tie-in. However, this option might have to be taken up if, at the end of the day, nobody can lay these inflexible pipes without buckling.

two pipeline in the same trench

The pipeline comes straight out of the trench (which is to be backfilled later) and tie-in to the Pig Launcher unit at one end (approx. 12 meters distance), while the other end comes out from the riser, run on pipe supports for 800 meters and tie-in to the Pig Receiver unit. The Consultant...

SUBSEA WATER PIPELINE BUCKLING DURING PIPE LAY WORKS.

Yes, we know the Laybarge is rather undersized, but that’s the only one we could get at that time. We thought of adding more tension, but due to the thin pipe wall, we don’t think that would solve the pipe joint from buckling. From Diver’s video cam, we can see that the pipeline is not flexing...

two pipeline in the same trench

Thanks for your enlightenment on anchor blocks GregLamberson. I asked that because our Client's consultants have added two anchor blocks each on the swamp & subsea pipeline landfall areas. Guess the consultants are not that experienced afterall! Can you have a look at my problem in a thread I...

two pipeline in the same trench

GregLamberson: Please clarify your reservations on anchor blocks?? Thanks! Yes, if the pipeline is being installed by push-pull method from a pipeline launching platform into pre-excavated trench filled with water, then spacing for welder would not be an issue. But if the pipeline is being...

two pipeline in the same trench

Onshore pipeline, and gas at that, would call for some safety aspect in laying them together in a single trench. If the land transverse is swampy, as in mangrove/brackish water swamp, then your pipelines will have to be externally concrete coated, and/or even concrete anchor blocks build into...

SUBSEA WATER PIPELINE BUCKLING DURING PIPE LAY WORKS.

I’ve an urgent problem which suggest a very strong possibility of pipeline coating design fault. I’ve read a post dated 1/Nov/2007 titled “Concrete Composition of Saltwater pipe weights” with interest as it has some similarity to our pipeline. We’ve started to lay a single 660.4mm dia API 52X...
