    Ok I have worked it out - it denotes the prt/asm is a child of a packaged item

    Fighterpilot - I'm not referring to the coloured prt/asm indicators. If you look closer, against some of the parts/assemblies there are icons that resemble two black unfilled squares - a bit like what you see if the item is 'packaged' (packaged being denoted by a single unfilled black square)
