metengr,
Followed your advice yesterday sent an e-mail and made a call. I was told by their lead auditor that they woould get back to me. Still waiting....thanks for the help and the input to all who responded. I will post what they tell me next.
weldtek, the wps does not specifically reference those paragraphs. I assume that is the problem. This was from an internal audit by a sister company.
mentengr, welding processes vary from GTAW, FCAW, GMAW, SMAW. Again these guys are saying that these two paragraphs must be mentioned and noted...
Just looking for a more clear explanation than what i'm getting from the Auditors. I have only been with this company for a short time as the welding supervisor. During our last Audit we were told that every wps we have (and they have been using these for the last 25 years) must be changed...
OK gentlemen and welders :) I am being told that under ASME sec IX if a welder Certifies under GMAW he is automatically qualified for FCAW using the same WPS I can't find anything under section IX that leads me to believe this. If you have an answer could you please reference code and sec.
thank you all for your responses. everything else in wps is fine. the "up" set off a flag for me. and it appears that this is true on every gmaw process this particular shop has.thought maybe there had been a revision i was not aware of. thanks again.
I am reviewing a WPS for GMAW. The weld progression is listed as "up". Are not Short circuit (which cannot be used on this job) and pulse the only GMAW methods that can be used out of position?
