    The CP command is ignored?

Hi, everyone I am trying to model a 2D cell (square) of fibres in shear. To do so, I am applying a prescribed displacement at the topside nodes, clamp the nodes at the bottomside nodes, and prescribe corresponding displacements at the sides of the cell. The problem is, in order to get the...

Using solid surface to create membranes

Hi, Is there any way to use a surface from a solid part to create membrane elements without having to write an input-file from scratch? The reason is that my analysis file with a user-element doesn't seem to work when creating a second part of only membranes and then using the tie-constraint on...

Numbering DoF for use in UEL

Hi, I'm writing an element in UEL for the first time, and I'm at a bit of a loss as to how I'm to define the active degrees of freedom in the input file. I have a 2D 4-node membrane element with translations at each node active. How do I write this in the input file? I've been looking at the...

General ideas for large deformation contact analysis

I am modelling a component which involves large areas of contact (a kind of press-fit) and very large deformations, including elastic springback. I have the problem that the time-steps are reduced to the point where there is really no use continuing the analysis (about the magnitude of 1e-18s)...

Algor 2010 and 2011 gives different results?!

Yes, I asked them specifically what "Model size too big" meant. It's very annoying that the program doesn't specify what exactly is too big, and the support simply said that "Well, the model is too big". Anyway, I did the whole thing again from scratch and now it works...thanks anyhow! /Björn

Algor 2010 and 2011 gives different results?!

I am not allowed to disclose the model file anyway, so I doubt they would be able to help me much. I was just wondering if anyone else have experienced something similar?

Algor 2010 and 2011 gives different results?!

Has anyone else had a problem with the two different versions of Algor giving you different results? I had a model which worked quite well in 2010, but I have a very hard time getting it to work in 2011 (for some reason, it tells me that the exact same model is "too big"?). Anyway, when I...

    Punch and Die

Indeed it is. It is not quite as smooth as in e.g. Abaqus but it can definitely be done. You just need to tweak the prescribed displacements, load curves and data curves in a smart way. I am currently simulating a plate forming process (UOE-forming for pipelines) and even if it's quite tedious...

Activating boundary conditions at different times

Hello, New to the site and relatively new to Algor. I am currently trying to model a part of a cutting machine with several contact surfaces and pretension of bolts to keep the parts together. However I wanted to start with a simple model, so I used the CAD (IronCad) model I have to mesh...
