Thanks bimr & fattdad,
I would suspect that this well will never be adequate for peak use. The 8 gallons per minute is for constant draw and a storage reservoir for peak use. I have to service 20 homes and 8 gallons per minute continuously will suffice.
We are going to do a pump test now, but...
Hey Sam74, wow that hurt. They literally "banned" me from their site. I guess I wrote something horrible or I'm so far from a contractor they can't even say sorry. Ouch.
Agreed, that is what I need to do. Is there any saving the hole if it is 270 meters deep but the water is coming in at 100 meters?
Thanks for your time.
I have a well driller who drilled a well for me that went down 270 meters and "didn't find any water". However, as I listened above the hole, it sounded like running water. So, I lowered a HD camera into the hole. As can be seen on the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6K6BQ6cZwE8 there is...
Hi Cvg,
The flow rate of my source is small, so I need a reservoir somewhere to manage the peaks. Its already built at the top so it is not longer an option to move it.
Also, the 1" pipes go to homes from a 2" distribution line. Were you thinking 1" inadequate for a house or for the whole...
Hi All,
First, thanks very much for your comments. I'm obviously new to this stuff and its great to get the feedback. I'm attaching two drawings of what is going on. The lower drawing is 100% standard (at least I've seen the layout many times before). But, it requires that the upper (and...
The problem with using the pneumatic tank for 10 homes is that this is happening in Costa Rica and the electric goes down about once a day for one reason or another. This would cause water outage whenever there is electric outage. But, you sort of answered my question #1 because if you think...
I'm building a system for about 10 homes. I would like to pump into the distribution system to avoid running/maintaining two tubes to the reservoir. I would like to turn on/off the pump with a standard pressure switch and a nearby pneumatic tank to avoid running wires to the reservoir.
At...
Thanks for the advice. I live in Costa Rica so a visit to my office would probably be too much to ask...hmmm...or maybe not :) Any suggestions as to a good company/sales person to call would be appreciated.
Hi Folks,
Thanks for all the responses. Indeed I see pumps now that will easily do what I need, but where do I price them? How does one shop for these pumps? Is there a good on-line dealer that posts prices?
Thanks again.
Thanks for your response! Am I reading something wrong on these pumps? I see the following line in the specs for the pump you mentioned:
Max. Head (Ft.) 288
I need 500 feet. I've studied Granger and can't find any pump that can lift 500 ft. of head (even looking at 12 hp 3ph $5000 type...
I feel silly asking this question, but I've searched high and low on the internet and can't find a pump solution for my needs. The requirement is 500 ft of head (including losses) at 6 gallons per minute flow rate. I have 240 volt service available. Most "deep well" pumps seem to tap out at...
With a handle "ItSmoked" I imagine you've seen a few safety hazards in your time. I'm not sure exactly what you mean by a safety shutdown. Basically, I have a water storage tank that I opted to manage the on/off switching with a float switch. But, the tank is about 300 meters from the pump...
I just wanted to finish here by thanking you guys for your input. It is invaluable to me to have your advice. I'm going to take the shortest route first and put a lamp across the A1 and A2 inputs of my AC circuit. If that fails, I'll transform to DC and stick with mechanical relay as ItSmoked...
On re-reading I think I misunderstood ScottyUK's advice. I now see he was talking about the different issue of voltage drop on long runs after having made the jump to a DC system.
Can anyone suggest why my AC system over a much larger distance worked when using a ZELIO SR38101FU 100/24OV...
Thanks to both! I now understand why a previous installation didn't have the same problem. I had what I think ScottyUK is referring to as a Solid State Relay (INTELIGENTE ZELIO SR38101FU 100/24OV 6E/45). The run was a lot longer but I didn't have the problem. So, I decided to "save" some...
