    Datum Tolerance using sheet stock

I have a question on datum tolerances using stock material (in this case .100” aluminum sheet). My drafting department says we must qualify all datum surfaces. However, my manufacturing department says sheet material this thin will be difficult (impossible?) to maintain a certain flatness (I...

CREO 3.0 - Datum flag location?

How do I get Datum flag B to be above the tolerance block? I need to show B above the perpendicularity.

    Delring press fit tolerancing

This is basically a revision of a current design where they did not call out tolerances at all. They stated to ensure .002 interferences of the pin to the hole. Our drafting/checker department wants tolerances put on the drawing (understandably). I don't trust the previous design but it works as...

    Delring press fit tolerancing

I have plastic (Delrin) pins that need to be press fit into holes on a fiberglass plate. How do I determine the tolerance for this? I assume the tolerance will be different than for metal press fit. Epoxy could be used as well, but would prefer to stick with a permanent press fit tolerance.

    Repeat Regions Help Needed

I need to override some titles of parts that are released in a drawing BOM and I can't figure out the relation needed to do so. I tried creating a new parameter as shown below: desc1 = " " if exists("asm_mbr_partnumber") desc1 =...

How to calculate required positoinal tolerance of a stack up?

Thanks for the feed back. I found the basic formula for fixed fastener tolerance and it looks like we have negative tolerance! I have to assume the pins are small enough that they are bending to fit in place. Looks like a redesign is in order.

How to calculate required positoinal tolerance of a stack up?

I am rusty with my GD&T and usually have the manufacturing guys do it for me, but I would rather know what I am doing at this point. Let's say I have 2 plates with matching hole patterns. Pins with a min/max diameter tolerance go through both plates. How do I actually calculate what my...

Balancing a mass within 1 degree?

It is done everyday while installing subsea equipment.

Balancing a mass within 1 degree?

Maybe this sketch would help make things more clear:

Balancing a mass within 1 degree?

drawoh, You made a great point. It must be too early, yes we have a Z direction component as well, and that makes the problem a lot more clear.

Balancing a mass within 1 degree?

Let's say I have a large structure that weights 100k pounds that is hung from a simple support at the very center (x,y = 0,0). The CG is offset by a few inches, say (6,2). I need the structure to hang within 1 degree of flat. This seems like a simple trig problem but I am unsure how to setup...

Creating Hydraulic Schematics in Excel (or other programs)

We already do this^^. The initial schematic is easy. However when we go to setup our test procedure, we have to do 40-50 separate schematics showing each individual pressure test (we pressure test each component of the system). This is a very tedious process, and I am trying to semi-automate it...

Creating Hydraulic Schematics in Excel (or other programs)

I will say that I agree with most of what you are saying, however I consider this a learning project as well as something I enjoy doing on the side (developing new tools, websites, coding, etc..) As I stated in the first line of the topic, I am open to software package recommendations. I have...

Creating Hydraulic Schematics in Excel (or other programs)

I am looking to develop hydraulic system schematics in Excel (feel free to suggest other software that can do this!!!). Im not looking for exactly how to do this, but rather different ideas to accomplish the end goal. I created a basic sketch of what I want to achieve in the program, although...

No jt files being created in Teamcenter

"Or select the BOM item and press open in TC Vis, if you have Vis." I have Vis, but not sure where the option is to open with it is?

No jt files being created in Teamcenter

I am new to NX and Teamcenter but not to .jt files. We used them extensively at my last company for digital mockup and shop assembly. I have run across several threads were people talk about .jt files being automatically created in Teamcenter. Our system is not setup that way, so I need to...

Looking for electronic work instruction ideas

That is a very interesting way of doing it (using a CMS like Joomla). My initial thought was to just do some basic scripting to pull data from a base template, but then I considered we should probably take it much further than that. My problem with off the shelf solutions is that they never...

Looking for electronic work instruction ideas

I am not sure if this is the right forum for this topic, but it seems like a good place to start. Each product we make gets a 200-300 page Word document describing how to assemble and test it. These are step-by-step instructions with pictures, sign offs, torque tables, warnings, etc. I am...
