Guys, the tank will be fully assembled/welded in workshop including the sump (if i include it). it will then be lifted and laid on its foundation on site.
hotworks on site is not allowed; this is why we are fully assembling in workshop.
the foundation is planned to be there already waiting for...
Dear members,
Can we have a sump for a shop-assembled storage tank?
My case is 3.5m diameter vertical tank of 5m high.
The bottom is flat and my client has requested to have a sump.
Should i tell him that this not allowed by API? for this is not mentioned any where in appendix J and also in the...
Many thanks for your reply JStephen
the top most strake and the inside of the roof plates will be painted for corrosion protection. so will the truss.
it is good to know it is a common practice so my clients should expect it.
Hi,
Is there an issue when the roof truss of a supported cone roof of a HFO Storage tank is below the tank operating volume level?
That is the truss bottom chord will always be wetted by product when the tank is completely filled.
Thanks
Hi,
when you mean : "The upper shell will by analyzed as a thin cylinder with point loads and those loads will have to be spread out over some horizontal and vertical distance to remain within allowables", how would you do that?
it is not in API650 right? so I need to analyse following...
Thanks for your input IFRs.
What I meant was: the dome supports will be welded onto a tension ring (so fixed supports). The dome vendor has advised me on which tension ring to be used. And he is going to give all the loads and full design report, once he gets a firm order.
However on my side, I...
I am designing a diesel tank which will be equipped with a geodesic Aluminium Dome Roof.
The tank is being designed as an open top tank.
And the roof will be welded on a tension ring which is welded on top of the top curb angle so no radial load is transferred to the tank shell.
my question is...
it is indeed a rectangular manway on a tank roof 6mm thk. what load would there be with a manway? the manway mass/weight itself is negligible. API is not clear about when to add reinforcing plates on tanks roof. Neither is the CODRES the french code for tanks. Valleytank, you mention load...
Many Thanks IFRs
It is such a large opening that can't avoid the weld line so we will go ahead with it and pay attention to the weld. Structurally it does not require a reinf. doubling plate, as load is not much. But would you insert one to have cleaner weld at the nozzle neck?
