    servo vs proportional valves

Thank you for your answer Adrian Just to clarify, if you are using a material test stand (as i'm working with) you would use a proportional valve to control the supply pressure and a servo valve to control the flow to the actuator because of the better peformance characteristics? //Hans

    servo vs proportional valves

Hi all I have a quick question about the use of servo- vs proportional valves. A hydraulic technician told me the other day that servo valves are used to control flow and proportional valves used to controle pressure. Does any one know if this is true and if why? Wont servo valves be just as...

    Sticky spools

Sorry I meant if higher operating pressure would cause LESS hysteresis :)

    Sticky spools

Hi all Just a quick question.. Will a sticky spool in a servo valve cause larger hysteresis with larger surply pressure? The reason I ask is that we use valves rated to 3000 psi and in the data sheets hysteresis is given for 3000 psi. Howevwe our systems only deliver around 1000 psi and I would...

    Selecting the Right Flowmeter?

As the flow meter is placed on the return line hopefully it won't experience more than 0-70 psi

    Selecting the Right Flowmeter?

Hi there I need to find a precise flowmeter for a hydraulic system. The flow meter should meet the follwing: 1) The flow i need to measure is between 0.3 and 40 gpm 2) the accuracy should be aronund 0.3% 3)As the flow is measured continuous it has to pick up changes in flow rather...

minimum test of faulty servo valve

Hi again and thanks for the fast reply As fare as I can tell the filters are working and the oil is not contaminated but I haven't used the teststand for a while so it might have been at some point. If this might be the problem a sticky spool would result i an abnormality when compared to a new...

minimum test of faulty servo valve

Oh I forgot to mention that the valves used in the stands are MTS 252.24C and mts 252.25C. I dont know if its relevant but now you know :)

minimum test of faulty servo valve

Hi I'm having a problem with a hydraulic teststand and have a suspicion that it might be because of a faulty servo valve. As we have plenty of oilsupply and a good cooling system the leakage isnt really a problem. My question now is if I just want to check if the valve is faulty and dont care...
