Pretty simple question here. What is the max % fill on an expansion tank that isn't broken? Is that fill different for different types of ET's (bladder, steel, etc.)?
Even if you raise it a few feet and dangle something non-destructive from it a semi (I'm being extreme on purpose) could come through and still hit it.
I am designing a 'height restrictor' for lack of better terms. Attached is a photo of what is proposed. My question is what sort of load to throw at the structure. It is a replacement for one that was hit.... I have designed vehicle barriers (ground mounted concrete or cable) in the past and...
[s]The new ASCE 7-10 changed the wording of the bracing exclusion from 12" to top of duct to 12" rod. This doesn't affect square duct however round duct with (2) hangers will rarely if ever meet this requirement. ASCE 7-05 section 13.6.7a and ASCE 7-10 section 13.6.7b
Looked at the footing today. A 6'-6" section directly in front of the tree was cracked on both sides of the tree. It appeared to be relatively unmoved, but rotated about 1/8" away from the house at the top which leads me to believe the foundation was being pushed at the base toward the house...
I'm trying to get some feedback on appendices for structural calculation submittal packages. I always specify something along the lines of, "Installations of X shall conform to ESR-XXXX" in my basis of design. I have always been in the habit of adding ESR reports for various items specified...
This is all about what I expected to hear. I was hoping for some magic hidden footnote in the NDS that covered it, or something similar, but have found creative ways around it myself for years.
Thanks for the responses!
I'm looking for guidance on edge distance less than 4d when load is applied perpendicular to the grain of a timber member. All the NDS in C11.5 states is that they don't specifically address this issue.
