    More employment opportunities for engineers?

cksh, I work in automotve industry too. Its really bad out there, would professional designation help me ? Lot of my buddies say that pursuing designation wouldn't make a difference in automotive.

never mind I figured it out.

What does following message means in ANSYS?

*** WARNING *** CP = 2.609 TIME= 09:31:04 For material 1 at temperature 23, the initial slope of the stress-strain curve based on the TB,MELAS table (9500) is less than EX(11000).

    Warning in ANSYS

I am at work and I am getting this error, any Idea? "joint elements with lag mult option do not satisfy joint constraint conditions" Its still running, will see if it converges Thanks

    Post processing help in ANSYS

For ex UTS of material is at 135 MPa, and I apply force of 1200N, accoring to the counters in ANSYS the Max stress is 206 MPa at one spot it means its gona fail there. I need to find a force that would generate stress within UTS of material.

    Post processing help in ANSYS

I am modelling a plastic part in ANSYS 12.2 I applied mesh, connections, forces and suports. I solved and got solution I applied a froce of 1200N Max stress was at 206 MPa UTS of material is at 135 MPa I need to find the force (which should be less then 1200N) at which the part will fail...

The Finite Element Method in ANSYS«

I just bought a PDF copy of : This book is awesome, starts from basic and goes into advanced non linear analysis. Must have for someone in FEA field.

    Interviewing while still employed

@ Debaser: They do it because they don't want employee going to trunk of his car and coming back with M-16 and extra magazines. In our company they don't even let you clean your desk.

Will a dual degree in ME and Applied Math hurt me

When I was in undergrad I took 6-7 maths courses 1) linear algebra 2) diff calculus 3) Integral calculus 4) vector calculus 5) statics 6) diff equations

    Best Field in Electrical/Electronic Engineering

lacrotix, Do what you like, you don't want to go to a job that you hate. I assume that you are in school, try to do as much co-op as possible, with as many companies as possible, try to get broad range of experience. That will help you in job, when you graduate.

Part passing FEA but failing lab test

We are using injection molding to manufacture parts. I will ask for ASTM dog-bone test done on material, I am looking for its stress-strain curve. That might tell me something. I can refine my mesh further. should I use linear model or non linear model? Thanks

Part passing FEA but failing lab test

I am designing brake pedal. Its made of plastic, I am using CATIA/ANSYS for FEA analysis. Part is within stress limits and sress counters are under yield stress, but during lab test, it fails. I think that I am not modeling plastic correctly in FEA, I am using non linear model. Any Ideas?
