Water Flow through a Vertical Column

What I was thinking about doing was finding how long it will take for the water level to drop to the surface using the velocity of the water through the soil.

Water Flow through a Vertical Column

Thanks for all of the help. I know have a better understanding of finding the parameters. I do have a second question. If Q is no longer supplied so that the water level is at the soil surface, is the Total H at the surface 20 cm or is it still 30 cm?

Water Flow through a Vertical Column

I have attached a quick sketch in Microsoft Word. I had the units messed up. It is actually cm and not meters.http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=f5238aea-06c5-44cb-8ead-262d1366662a&file=Vertical_Water_Column.doc

Water Flow through a Vertical Column

This is a lab test. The column is short and immersed in a water tank. The area is about 78.5 square meters and k is assumed to be 0.34 m/s. No well measurements are known.Thanks.

Water Flow through a Vertical Column

There is water flowing (40 cc/s) in the column to maintain water level at the top of column.

Water Flow through a Vertical Column

I would measure it at 30 meters with the elevation heads at 0, 10, 20, and 30 meters.

Water Flow through a Vertical Column

I am trying to find the total head for different locations along this vertical column with soil for work. It has been a long time since I have done it, so I want to make sure that my method is correct. My water level is 30 meters from the bottom and my soil surface is 20 meters from the bottom...

Effects of Widening a Portion of a River

If I have a uniform river in equilibrium and I widen the width by a factor of 2 for about 500 ft of the length, what will be the sediment transport change(aggradation, degradation, or equilibrium) of the river? I was thinking that the upstream would stay in equilibrium, and the downstream would...
