    Romex Wire In Commercial Project

I don't intend to argue with him. The electrician is doing what he wants done. This is just curiosity because the electrical code is like greek to me. I can understand the IBC and the variations of it the different states use but I have trouble finding what I need in the electrical code. If you...

    Romex Wire In Commercial Project

We were called in to help a customer that was in trouble with the State Fire Marshal. They have a Physical Therapy business and lease the space they are in. They are also affiliated with a local hospital. We have built all required fire walls and are complete with our portion of the work. The...

    Masonry Wall Expansion Joints

Sorry about the term "footer". It is local slang. Thanks for your input.

    Masonry Wall Expansion Joints

I have a building that is 117' long with a 8" CMU wall that extends 12' AFF to a bond beam and a pre-engineered building above that. I am locating joints in the CMU wall and wondered if the joint should extend down to the footer? The foundation wall is also CMU and is just down to frost depth...

New Electrical Code Main Service Requirements

I do not have a copy of the latest NEC code. Does it now require that all electrical main services be placed in a room all their own or does it depend on the voltage/amperage rating on the service? An electrician told me he thought it does. I am looking to do a new 400 amp 120/208v 3 phase...

Verifying total amp draw on a 3 phase panel?

Thanks for the reply. It was what I was looking for. I will assume also that on a single phase panel the same thing applies? You would read both legs on the service entrance side of the panel and the highest leg will be what the panel is drawing? Thanks again.

Verifying total amp draw on a 3 phase panel?

When we were testing the total amp draw on a 3 phase service panel the electrician told me that the highest reading of the 3 legs was the total draw on the panel. Is this correct? We had a 200a 208v 3 phase panel and the highest draw was 81 amps with the other two being around 72 and 75 as best...

    Length between Expansion Joints

Thanks for all your help. All the replies were very helpful. I enjoyed receiving your good advice. I guess I was a little too conservative. Kinda like the old engineer I knew that wore a belt and suspenders.

    Length between Expansion Joints

It is an addition and the front and rear walls are 150'-0" long while the side wall is 300'-0" long. It is reinforced. I am talking expansion joints. I have the control joints located at no more than 1.5 times the wall height and closer to 1.0.

    Length between Expansion Joints

I have a general question. I have a building that has a 6'-0" high above finish floor 8" thick concrete wall around the entire perimeter. The wall varies from 3'-0" to 6'-0" below finish floor for frost protection and height at the loading dock. So the wall varies to between 9'-0" to 12'-0" in...
