Thanks Greg, you confirmed what I thought i.e. mean gas velocity. Can anybody explain where the term Lovell Factor comes from, who is Lovell, I have searched the web with no success.

Could someone out there give me the correct formula for the 'Lovell Factor'? I know it is related to piston speed, bore area and valve area. Is this an American term as I have not come accross the term in any UK text books, where can I find references for this term.

All Kawasaki H2 750 triples shift gears the way you want so it is definately possible. The problem with a street bike is changing down and losing count of the gears and ending up in neutral, I do not know of any current bikes that shift like this. To change your shift pattern I would try...
I know this reply is a long time after this query was posted but I have only just joined the forum. In my experience Bandits are carburettor fuel height critical and sometimes respond well to lowering the fuel height 0.5/1mm
