How to gain Structural Engineering Experience (career advice)

Hello I recently graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering in Canada. My past work experience have been mostly materials testing, geotechnical and transportation. I dabbed into those career paths and i know could continue doing that kind of work and be content, however I really...

    Strength Enhancer admixture

i'm not sure of the principle of this enhancer, i do not know why this agent increase strength. Im just wondering whether industry professional could benefit from strength enhancers. (i have left the undesired side effects out)

    Strength Enhancer admixture

Ron you are absolutely right. One way to increase strength is to reduce water to cement ratio. However going for a 0.45 ratio to a 0.35 ratio, is to increase cement content by roughly 25% (by mass). It may be more economical to produce the same strength using a chemical admixture.

    Strength Enhancer admixture

Curious to see what real engineers would do with an strength enhancing agent. If it were possible to effectively increase the overall compressive strength on concrete by 20%-30%, how would you use the concrete? What changes would you make to your concrete designs? To better illustrate what...

    Materials Testing = Geotechnical Engineering?

I have a fundamental knowledge of geotechnical engineering from my educational background. My knowledge of the theory and parameters are there. I'd just like to apply the theory, short of doing page after pages of problems from my textbooks, i'm looking for a more practical understanding such...

    Materials Testing = Geotechnical Engineering?

Thanks for your response Ron, I appreciate the insight. I figured my work experience meant minimal exposure of geotechnical engineering. I've googled the subject and there are just so many software out there. I'm assuming that there aren't many software that deals with multiple geotechnical...
