    Maximum bar spacing

Dear all, Would anyone know what is the maximum bar spacing between longitudinal reinforcement allowed by Eurocode in a circular or a rectangular column? Regards Kk

Reinforced concrete design - Circular Section

Thanks for the responses. Could you provide a good reference for the theory of analysis of reinforcement in circular sections? Regards Kk

Reinforced concrete design - Circular Section

Dear All, I am working on a concrete pile design and I have a question regarding the analysis of circular RC sections. Which of the following methods is acceptable by Eurocode? 1. Column Interaction charts - If ok, should I refer BS for the charts? 2. Calculating stresses in the...

Limiting skin friction and limiting bearing capacity for piles

Thank you for the responses. I will have a look at Tomlinson. Regards Kk

Limiting skin friction and limiting bearing capacity for piles

Dear all, I am checking pile capacities using Eurocode and I understand EC does not provide a calculation method for pile bearing capacity like the API. I would like to know what limiting skin friction and limiting bearing capacity can I use? I would like a reference that provides limiting...

    Pile Design (point of fixity)

Hey, Oh yes, I should have just guessed that. I have assumed that the pile is unsupported upto 1 metre below the sea bed level. I have not considered any impact loads. That is a fair point. In any case my doubt still remains. That there are these two independent analyses, 1. Point of fixity...

    Pile Design (point of fixity)

Ron, I tried to consider the lateral load of the pile in order to determine the depth but that again is very small (around 25 kN). I am sorry but I am not sure what fluff means. There is no uplift. I used hand calculations using Tomlinson. Thanks VK

    Pile Design (point of fixity)

Dear all, I have an instance in a pile design where the vertical load is very low such that the point of fixity (which is primarily governed by the diameter of the pile, calculated as per Tomlinson) is deeper than what is required by bearing capacity check. I need a minimum pile diameter in...

Anchor Bolt/Pedestal Design according to European standards ETAG

Dear all, I am designing anchor bolts on concrete pedestal for design forces according to ETAG (TR029) . I have a few queries regarding the same: 1. Value of hef seems to not change much if the pedestals are small (cmax < ccr,N). This I understand although is their some clause to allow use of...
