I ended up using a 10g vertical load factor (the acceleration from what I assumed would be a really bad bump in the road).
The load distribution was easy to calculate.
This load factor resulted in elastic deformation only.
I was just curious if there were any published standards regarding...
You are bringing back old memories.
Yes, there should be a small amount of clearance between the brake rod and the master cylinder piston. This will insure that the piston in the master cylinder will allow the fluid to return to the reservoir. You can check by looking in the reservoir when...
Depending on the construction of the attitude indicator, the gyro is effected by external forces such as gravity and lateral accelerations that may be felt during a non-coordinated turn. The older gyros were mechanicaly aligned with the earth by a system of rotating balls. Thus, if you were in...
The shear strength for the MS20470AD rivet is available in MIL-
HDBK-5 available at the DOD website. This publication has been superceeded by the MMPDS. Anyway, the values in handbook 5 should still be close.
Cheers
... LOL ...
You are probably right on the money....
The only flaw I can see is that the company (Peckerwood) who wants to buy the Navmaster upgrade doesn't have an aircraft model listed in the AD. As such, they can't request an AMOC because the AD doesn't apply to the aircraft in question...
Interesting perspective.
But, the only acceptable methods for producing parts to be installed on a type certificated product are as follows:
First, it can be an owner produced part (but not sold over the counter). For this, you won't need to produce the part under an FAA approved quality...
thruthefence, you are correct.
The OEM isn't always the STC holder. Where I said "they" I should have said the STC holder.
I am assuming when you say ICAW, you mean instructions for continued airworthiness (ICA). See FAA Order 8110.54 for further clarification. Regarding installation...
If your make, model and aircraft serial number is not listed in the AD, then the new part number is not normally eligible for installation. Now, if the OEM feels the new part number is ok for installation on your aircraft, they can make it eligible for installation through the minor change...
The cover letter should be kept very simple. Explain what you are looking for and include a list of the enclosures.
Keep it short usually about one page long.
Good luck
