    Floating Stair fixing detail

I like the idea dhengr had with the continuous sloped embed plate at each end of the treads. This can be post installed with bolts positioned to be hidden within the volumne of the built-up tread. The treads would be field welded. In my opinion this approach would be the cleanest and easiest for...

    Shop Drawing Review

What do your Specifications require for Submittals? Unless you specifically indicate electronic submittals, I would make the Contractor submit the hard copies since the printing cost should be in their bid number. As far as transfering your comments to multiple sets, I would talk to the...

    Height of 25 psf snow?

For fresh snow, see ASCE 7-10 equation 7.7-1. The density works out to be 17.9 pcf for 30 psf snow. To get the height, take 30 psf / 17.9 pcf to give you 1.67 ft or 20".

    New Steel Frame - clearance

Ajk1: A little curious as to why the existing girder needs the supplemental support. Is the girder damaged? If so, is it better to temporarily shore up the east west beams and recast the girder. I'd be concerned with overloading the girder below with the new steel frame assuming this is not at...

    cold formed steel joist blocking

I would go with the extended clip angle to avoid coping the blocking.

    cold formed steel joist blocking

If you are considering option 1 (shallower depth blocking), I assume that you do not need the blocking to increase the diaphram capacity for plywood decking since the blocking will not be tight to the deck. Do you need the blocking to act as bridging? If so, Simpson Strong tie makes 20 ga...

    Beam with End-Plates Too Short

Agree with the 1/4" shim each end. See AISC Specification Section J5 on fillers for more info on the shear reduction applicable if filler greater than 1/4".
