    Spotted 304L SS

The welds are severely corroded. They are usually the first part of the tank to reach the minimum requirements. The corroded spots are also in a uniform pattern on the sheet. We have not seen corrosion like this before. It is usually uniform along the horizontal. What else could cause...

    Spotted 304L SS

I have a pickling tank made of solution annealed 304L SS and contains a solution of 25-38% nitric acid and 3% hydrofluoric acid. Acid temp can be up to 95 deg F. One panel of the tank started showing leopard spots 2-3" in diameter after 2 years of service with severe corrosion. The other two...

    Calcium Polysulfide to remove nitrates

I have a waste stream containing 400ppm NO3 from rinse tanks in a nitric acid pickling facility. A contractor has suggested using calcium polysulfide to remove nitrates before sending the water to a collection area for pH adjustment which will then go to the POTW for disposal. Is this a common...

    high conc fluoride removal

The wastewater will combine with other streams which will raise the pH before being discharged. So pH adjustment is not an issue. The reject stream in RO is a reason we do not want to use RO. I have also read about using activated alumina, aluminum sulphate or CaCl2 to remove F. Are any of these...

    high conc fluoride removal

I need to remove 500-1000ppm Fluoride from a waste stream with a flowrate of 50,000gpd down to 4.5ppm, pH is 2. One suggestion was lime or RO. Are these the best options which will have minimal waste to dispose of?
