Duwe6 there are cases that a crack may arise during the operation from a pinhole due to service conditions. You cannot compare a 2" nozzle addition with this case. Any code is sometimes generalised to cover all these service conditions.
Dear Members,
What is material Grade that can be used for following applications.
1. Diesel Loading and Unloading
2. Steam Pipes - Max Temperature - 450 degree C
3. Waste water pipes.
the intent of WQT is to prove that the welder can deposit a weld without defects. it is nothing to do with the strength if the F numbers were same for the above mentioned electrodes.
Based on the old PQR test conditions and test results a new WPS can be written(as per sec IX which meets requirements of API 6A).If the WPS is written satisfying the conditions of the sec IX then i hope it wouldnt be a problem.
Hi Mr andre,
So our interpretation is based on 6" length(any part) and the sum should not exceed 6.4mm see fig 7 for some examples of inclusion patterns with a sum of 6.4mm.
additon to the above criteria, the size and adjacent size must be considered by taking any 2 inclusions. Say...
Dear racookpe1978 i completely agree with you. But the intention behind asking about this topic is to get a deep understanding from industry experts. Any way i assume my errors in selecting the electrode may cost some time but not lives of people because my errors will make the WPS fail so no...
Hi duongwe,
Base metal were classified as per the Group numbers in AWS.So the WPS qualified with the material API 5L Gr X52 can be welded with any material from the same group. As Mr DVWE said X52 come under group 2. for example it can be used for welding A36, EH 36 etc... Please refer...
Hi,
Can anybody please tell me what is the basis for selecting a filler wire other than yeild strength.Does it have any relation with the parent metal and deposited weld metal composition.
