I've been using the sketch plane to work out some complicated geometry -- not necessarily for creating solid models. It gets really messy with all the dimensioning and other constraints, so I like to be able to hide stuff that is unnecessary to show in a slideshow or a report.

In sketch mode I want to organize by layers, and I can do it as long as I plan ahead, but if I draw something in the wrong layer, I can’t move it because the “move elements” button is always disabled. I have to cut the element, switch layers, and paste it.
