Hi Everyone,
I work for a multi-national company. We're on a large scale extension of one of our chemical plants. We're in the process of removing our main contractor off site for bad performance. The idea was to put our own team of welders and pipe fitters in to complete the job. Completion...
Hi Everyone, does anyone know if there is an acceptance criteria/tolerance for the amount of ditortion one can allow? How would I measure the effects of a heavily distorted branch weld? Does ASME B31.3 or ASME IX address this at all?
Thank You everyone for your input, it was really helpful. Where can I get further guidance on these types of queries? SANS 347 and PED are not that clear. Is there an ISO document?
Hi Guys/Gals, I want to weld an unassigned material (SANS 300 WA/Boilerplate) to a P1 material (SA 106 Gr B). Do I need to qualify a PQR, or can I use a P1 PQR?
It's easy to hard stamp id numbers into large bore piping and fittings. What happens when you get to 1/2" pipes, and especially 1/2" 45 degree elbows? It becomes near impossible. Then, certain paints seem to clog up the id numbers anyway? It seems that this material id requirement is just put in...
Do any of the ASME Codes discuss material traceability and weld maps as a requirement for Code Data Books? In other words, do contractors have to supply weld history and material maps on their AS BUILT isometrics? Is this required by ASME B31.3?
Thanks Andy. They both go to a maximum of 2T but usually there is a bit of reinforcement weld metal which goes above the base metal thickness. So to clarify, what would be qualified in this instance?
