    Centrifugal Pump efficiency

Hi everyone. Thanks all for your responses. Sorry for the late reply. Let me clarify your doubts. 1. This is a single stage centrifugal pump. 2. This is not a slurry pump. Pumping fluid is Butene. Pumping temperature is 60 deg C with vapour pressure as 7.813 bara. 3. BEP of this pump is 25.5%...

    Centrifugal Pump efficiency

We have a API std centrifugal pump installed in our plant with following details as given by vendor:- Capacity-13.36 m3/hr Total Head- 163.9 m Speed-3550 rpm Sp. Gravity-0.5370 Viscosity-0.1109 cp Efficiency-24.5% BHP-13.05 kw Shut off- 182.25 m My question:: Is it recommended to use this pump...

    Centrifugal pump technical bid evaluation.

Thanx KiwiMace & Artisi From your replies, can it be implied that the pump which is designed to work closer to its BEP is best to select? My query is more related to technical aspects. Suppose an engineer of an EPC company has to do this. Assuming that all 3 pumps meet process criteria s...

    Centrifugal pump technical bid evaluation.

Hello Friends I have very little experience in technical bid evaluation. This question has haunted me several times. My doubt is, if one has to evaluate a bid for 3 centrifugal pumps offered by 3 different vendors. What all parameters do an engineer consider/check to select the best pump among...

    API Seal flush plan 32

Thanx JJ & bk We are using seal flush 32 in combination with plan 52. Pump service is HD Polyethylene slurry. Hexane is used as a flushing media in plan 32 and White oil in plan 52. A throat bushing is installed in the seal. Now my doubt is:: With the same throat bushing, can we vary (increase)...

    API Seal flush plan 32

Hi Frnds In case of pumps with API seal flush plan 32, what should be the seal flush pressure. how much more than suction pressure?

High temperature in API 53B Mech Seal

Vessel temp is around 75-80 deg C. There is a sight glass in the seal. We can see how much it is leaking. We didn't observe any slurry in it. Seal oil differential pressure is difference of seal oil pressure & vessel pressure. This differential pressure is generally maintained around 1.5 to 2...

High temperature in API 53B Mech Seal

Hi Frnds This is an issue related to a double mechanical seal of an agitator. We observed a sudden high buffer fluid temperature which rose up to 103 deg C. Within 25 mins it went from 56 to 103 deg C and came back to 50 deg C. After 2 hours we observed, high seal oil differential pressure of...

    Magnetic center and alignment

It may seem non specific to you. But I am asking this because i have read somewhere that float in motors with magnetic center is taken care by adjusting DBSE. E.g. if mag center is lying X mm from mech center (outside motor). Then X mm is subtracted from DBSE and accordingly DBSE is set before...

    Magnetic center and alignment

Apart from the above, do we need to do anything with DBSE (distance between shaft ends) to accommodate the float?

    Time wave form analysis

My next doubt is related to some terminologies related to vibration. 1. what is overall vibration value? 2. what is peakvue? 3. what is coast down? 4. what is waterfall?

    Time wave form analysis

Thanks DliteE30. Actually i have already downloaded the same file. But the thing is they have given a very general examples of waveform having patterns. In actual we rarely see these patterns. I have a problem with interpreting waveform not having any pattern.

    Magnetic center and alignment

pls explain your second statement, it is not clear - "but coupling must set driven axial position" Also how much float ?? how do we give float?

    Magnetic center and alignment

I am nor sure, but you may consider four cases. 1. Both driver and driven have thrust 2. only driver has thrust 3. only driven has thrust 4. no thrust at all. what would be the scenario in the above four cases?

Dear byrdj, could you pls elaborate on role of thrust bearings to accommodate axial float?

    Time wave form analysis

Friends, i am naive to vibration analysis. Can you help in understanding time wave form. What all parameters do we check in this particular type and for what purposes?

    Magnetic center and alignment

ok, now for example, thermal expansion is very negligible. In this case how do we take care of axial float. Because even if there is no thermal expansion there will be some float due to movement of motor shaft during start up.

    Magnetic center and alignment

Dear, my question is how does a coupling accommodate the axial play exhibited by motors having magnetic center?
