Precast TT slabs welding of stems to girder corbels

@JohnRwals Thanks for shedding light on that, AFAIU there is not totally clear definition to that or any code reference, bcoz in my opinion that corbels are very narrow not that weld will hold them but it will provide partial staiblity to some extent.

Precast TT slabs welding of stems to girder corbels

Dear ALL, As the following image depicts is it compulsory to weld the stems of TT prefabricated slabs to the main girder corbel locations, if it is mandatory by code which section of code (e.g. PCI) exactly governs for that ?

How to model FRP with software

Thank you for shedding light on that topic Of course I'm familiar with that and it is the design activity how about SAp 20000, do you think that can handle it? Definition of iso tropic, anisotropic, time dependent behaviour is possible in that. Very useful pieces of info, it would be better...

How to model FRP with software

I see totally different area, -> one fourth of column length in vertical direction, because in earthquake governed load combination max moments are observed at the column top and bottom places I was wondering and inspired by the image attached, which was originally excerpted from ACI Guide for...

How to model FRP with software

Thanks for commenting, Material properties are directly from manufacturers I mainly stick to the e.g. BASF MasterBrace® LAM 100/1.2 CFS or SikaCarbodur, Sika Wrap The purpose of analysis is to rehabilitate the existing building with CFRP laminates and wraps. yes I know and have full...

How to model FRP with software

Hi, I need to model the FRP laminates + FRP wrap elements for RC columns and beams with software for design and retrofitting purposes. Have any of You done such thing up to now, even if it is not how would you go with software or with manual hand calculation?

Minimal requirements and demands for basement Storage

As a response to @LCREP and @cdafd questions: Actually the project is in Europe, the basement will be used for the storage purposes upper floor is for production of textile based products. 1. How many sq. ft.is the basement? 8000m2 2. How many sq.ft. will be storage? Actually teh whole...

Minimal requirements and demands for basement Storage

It must be fun really, [bigsmile] Thanks for guidance, definitely I'll consult AHJ for input but before that I have to assure them that I 've studied my lessons and I know what I'm talking about. In order to achive that I have the follwoing questions ( assume that storage material is: Group A...

Minimal requirements and demands for basement Storage

Dear ALL, Is there any speicific info related especially with basements storage goods in NFPA for wet type sprinklers, such as distance to smoke detectors and max height which can be stored in basements ?

HVAC System with VRV or Chiller System is Cheaper ?

I was exepecting something more like that, but from human [bigsmile]

HVAC System with VRV or Chiller System is Cheaper ?

@ yes I know, but which one would be more cost efficient since the input is same for both of the system? They are in very same location, same building, why would one be prefering to use VRV instead of chiller based system or vice versa.

HVAC System with VRV or Chiller System is Cheaper ?

dear ALL, Let's assume that we have the same square meter of area to be cooled(e.g. 1200m2) using the same heating cooling loads and design principles will the VRV system or using one outter chiller model be more efficient in terms of cost? ]

    Hinge For Time History Analysis

yes, I define plastic hinges 0,1*length ıf structural element but in TH it doesn't show the hinge status whether it reached IO, LS or CP levels, I believe that in FNA feature of SAPs it doesn't solve plastic hinges totally. Instead I have to go with direct ıntegration method which is time...

    Hinge For Time History Analysis

Dear ALL, When I perform the Time History Analysis in SP20000 v25 I noticed that hinge results are not displayed and not even calculated. I use the Modal for solution method for equation solution(FNA) and if I use Direct Integration it takes to much time for the problem solution sometimes it...

SAP2000: Is it necessary to break an element at frame intersections?

Normally I use the unbroken element it is very convenient from managability point of view, you have to deal with only one element to check the D/C ratios. I modify the unbraced length of that element in the related principal axis overwrites.

Variable Beam Height For Smoke Detectors

Actually we don't have the duct system in the plant except the office area but that is very small when compared to whole factory area They are kinda like "we are more experienced whatever we say has to be done" manner, and I'm trying to prove them to be wrong or at least I'm trying to learn...

Variable Beam Height For Smoke Detectors

    > 1. In general what will they be doing in the building//// what process?? Generally assmbly, copper welding, storage of refrigerators > 2. Fire sprinkler system?? If so wet? yes > 3. I am thinking no on air sampling Mee to because I've done air sampling on very specific occasions which...

Variable Beam Height For Smoke Detectors

ok thanks for helping, then each trapezoidal corridior in transversial maner will be treated as pocket and smoke detectors need to be provided the per pocket, total length for each bay is 120mt. Or If we can use the air sampling which I believe is very expensive, which one would you use if...

Variable Beam Height For Smoke Detectors

Please check the precacst girders marked with blue arrow below, they have variable height near the column they are 46cm and at the mid span 165cm, in order to decide the beam height how about if I take the average of variable height of that precast girders as (46+165 ) = 105cm ( beam height )...
