What is the best way to tap off 1 phase ~230 Vac from a 3 phase 460 Vac 60hz main? It will be used to power a cooling fan and a couple of small dc power supplies in an enclosure.

a 480-240V 1 phase transformer sized for the expected load.

Thank you JRaef,
I only asked because I have a print of a 3 phase 415Vac motor starter/controller designed and built in the UK. It has a 240/110 transformer on L1 to neutral, a 240/24Vdc power supply on L2 to neutral and another 240/24Vdc power supply on L3 to neutral. I didn't think it looked right to have a 1 phase device connected directly like that without a transformer.

In the UK, their power supply is 415Y240V, so phase to neutral is 240V without a transformer. Here in the US we have 480Y277V or maybe 480V delta, so you will need a transformer to power those 240V circuits.

Thanks for the explanation about the UK 3 phase, It simplifies this project a lot
