#10-32 screw in place of an M5 1

I have a block that has an M5 thread in it. We don't carry M5 screw's so I was told to use a#10-32 screw which has a slightly smaller thread but will screw in but feels a little loose. This just feels wrong to me. Am I being overly paranoid or is this a bad idea?

Probably a bad idea but intends entirely on on application and if you can use some kind of adhesive/threadlock or what have you to take up the slack.

We do use LOCTITE on every fastener.

Home Depot, Ace hardware, Lowes, Tractor Supply Hardware, Fastenal, Grainger not available?

This is MOT a valid solution, and will, if repeated, get you in trouble in the long run. Fix it properly with an M5 threaded fastener.
