i have a grip file (grid.100.grx) that worked perfectly up through NX4. NX5 it kinda worked. NX7.5 it does not work at all. Does anyone know of way to fix this or a new method? thanks.

are you speaking of grid space lines on the drawing?

check if prefereances > grid & work plane does what you need

An executable file (.grx) is of little value if it doesn't run. You have to have the source code (.grs) to make any changes or do any debugging.

That being said, if this is the program I think it is, is was written before we made a series of changes (first available in NX 5.0) to the Modeling and Drafting 'Grid' functionality adding the ability to display lines in addition to just points and also adding an option to label the major grid lines. To use this built-in functionality, go to...

Preferences -> Grid and Work Plane...

OK, this looks like something which would be part of the GM toolkit provided to suppliers and partners. If so, I would recommend that you go back to your contact(s) at GM and get an undated copy of the toolkit.

I was told it was no longer available. I was hoping for another way.

No longer available because NX has been enhanced to include that functionality as John stated. There are a lot of those GM toolkit programs that have been incorporated into the main NX code over the years.
As far as I know, the toolkit programs were only distributed as executables, no source code. Someone at EDS might still have the source code, but getting them to release it might be as painful as having all your teeth pulled in one day.

Thanks Ben, but I do not think that you quite understand the question.

I am curious about this also. Outside of the GM Toolkit, is it possible to apply body lines on the drawing? John's instructions are good, but it only applies to the actual drawing and not the parts.

Grid lines on the drawing help when parts are designed in vehicle position.
