Greetings,

I need to find clutch that goes on an electric motor. The clutch must only rotate 180 degrees per cycle, stop with in plus/minus 1 degree and hold this position until the next cycle. The electric motor is on continuously. It needs to work much like the drive system on a open back incline press, but only thru the output shaft 180 degrees. It does not need to be very large, the parts I am handling are small plastic caps. I should be able to design some thing from scratch, but would like to know if there is any thing available commercially that could be use as is or adapted.

Respectfully,

An imprecise clutch driving a 4 star geneva plus 2:1 gearup or a single revolution clutch geared down.

A wrap spring clutch can be made to work with this precision. The most common ones index each revolution, so you might use one of these with a 2:1 reduction.

Engineering is not the science behind building. It is the science behind not building.
