Hi all,

Does anyone have a copy of the SBC from the 60's or early 70's? I am analyzing a balcony/gallery and it does not work for 60 psf live load. I was trying determine if a smaller live load was required 35 years ago for a balcony.

Any input would be appreciated!

I've got the 1976 edition of the SBC -

Balconies and Galleries - Fixed Seats - 60 psf
Balconies and Galleries - Movable Seats - 60 psf

Exterior Balconies - Public - 60 psf
Exterior Balconies - Private - 40 psf ***

Footnote for *** says: "Exterior balconies, private, are those balconies for use by one or two families."

Also it has:

Theaters
Balconies - 50 psf

Thanks JAE,

We have the '76 SBC but I missed the Theaters Balconies 50 psf. That must have been what the original engineers used. Unfortunately some of the members still fail. Off to write a letter.

Thanks again!
