2 general questions about modelisation on abaqus

Hello all,

I have two small questions about Abaqus, I hope you can enlighten me.
It's been a while since I work on Abaqus and there are two things that I never understood / used:

1) when I do meshes I always meshes independent, what does it change for the calculation if i use dependant?

2) what is predefinifield? it is used for what? you have an example please?

The dependent meshing would mesh the part, and would be useful when you have multiples of the same part in the assembly.

A predefined field would be typically used when you are importing temperatures for thermal loading. There are other cases too, which are explained in the manuals.
