How can I get the material that I specify in a part to show up on the BOM of an assembly. The material column is blank.
There has to be a way to get this to work.

In the custom properties tab of the part/assy that you want to assign a material to: in the name field type or select MATERIAL. In the value field, type the material you want.

The custom properties tab is located in:
file/properties/custom properties.

In SW2004 there is a Material reference in the feature tree that you select a material for the current part. This is what I would like to show up in the BOM.

In the custom properties tab, create a name for material or select it from the list. But this time rather than typing a value in, there is a pull down menu titled "link to value". In this pull down, select material and it will grab the material selected in the feature tree.
